Commissioned by Dr. Bruce Tychinski, professor of trombone at the University of Delaware. I have always been fascinated with all fields of science and understanding our physical world. Coalescence is my attempt in translating the chemical processes into musical works, like many drops of water combining to create an ocean this piece begins with a single scalar fragment from which the entire piece is derived. This fragment grows and expands by phasing the fragment on top of itself in every combination possible. These many fragments come together to create giant masses and larger textures.
