This work was commissioned by Joe Jackson for his graduate tuba recital; originally written for flute, clarinet and tuba, the work has been altered for substitution of bassoon in place of tuba. This movement is a light, spirited movement which uses 2 simple motives to create melodic and rhythmic drive through the movement. Partita is an old word which means a collection or small movements of instrumental music - this terminology was popular during the Baroque period.
