This piece was commissioned by Julie Angelis Boehler, principal timpanist of the 'Pershing's Own' United States Army Band in Washington DC. The piece uses anywhere from 5-8 drums which visually circles the timpanist. The material is a funky and gritty and allows for an improvised cadenza; although one is written.
