This is the third and final movement from a suite that I never finished back in 2013. The third movement is a rondo of sorts (not exact in form) and it portrays the 4th century BC Macedonian infantry technique, the Hellenistic Phalanx; which was a densely packed formation utilizing long spears which allowed King Phillip and his army in the battles of Asculum, Heraclea, Cynoscephalae, Pydna, and others. The Macedonian infantry used bugle calls which you'll hear sprinkled around the piece while the formation maneuvers and stabs.
This work is scored for 2 Trumpets, 2 Horns, 2 Trombones and Tuba but parts may be doubled if desired for a full ensemble performance.
